Zoom Vacations is pleased to be the South America Travel experts for the first gay and lesbian travel and lifestyle television series, Bump which appears on OutTV in Canada. We have had the priviledge of introducing the Show's
host Charlie David to what we love about Buenos Charlie is well-known for his leading role in Here Networks gay drama, Dante's Cove. He's dashing, charming, and full of life both on an off camera, and fans will be happy to hear that he is also one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Nicest and busiest. Staring on Dante's Cove and hosting Bump are just two of the many projects in which he is involved. His production company, Border2Border Entertainment Inc. has their second film in development as well as several television series. Charlie took some time during our filming in Paraty Brazil to talk to us about the role of travel in his life. How has travel been a part of your acting career? I grew up in a small town in Saskatchewan so travel has always been part of my work, basically I had to pack my bags unless I wanted to put on a pair of overalls and become a farmer! I’ve been very fortunate to model, perform or film in many countries including the US, Canada, France, Holland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Mexico, El Salvador, England, and now Argentina and Brazil! One of my coaches taught me that as an actor three things were essential – a passport, a packed suitcase and a smile. It has continued to serve me well. What have been your favorite travel experiences you have had for work? While I was modeling I worked in Paris and fell in love with the city, I have returned several times and with every visit my relationship with the city deepens. I believe I will live there at some point in my life. My soap opera, Dante’s Cove shoots in Oahu, Hawaii so it’s definitely enjoyable to spend part of the spring on the islands every year. We will be heading into our fourth season this Spring and Hawaii has very much become an oasis for me. As a television host on various networks including my current dream job of hosting a world travel show called Bump I have been fortunate to clock time in various airport lounges around the globe. How did you come to meet Zoom vacations? I met Bryan and Joel while shooting an episode of Bump in Chicago this past summer. As residents of the Windy City the guys showed me around and when we learned about their prolific adventures in South America - we decided we needed to team up for our tour south of the equator. Zoom has been Bump’s travel expert for their South American episodes. How would you describe your travel experiences with Zoom? There are many gaps in knowledge as North Americans about what happens in other areas of the world and South America is no stranger to those stereotypes. Every travel adventure is enhanced when accompanied by knowledgeable guides. Of course the most important benefit of Zoom is the catered attention to detail and the insight into the interests of the LGBT tourist. Bryan and I toured Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Paraty and Sao Paulo and each city offers a wide variety of relaxation, nightlife, culinary delights and individual charm – having been to these cities numerous times our tour with Zoom was efficient and smooth. Zoom was as familiar in these foreign cities as when we toured Chicago together. What have been your favorite highlights? I absolutely loved Buenos Aires, the city has a sophistication which parallels many European cities. If you enjoy Malbec wine and are a beef eater – you can’t miss Argentina. It’s a holiday where you can treat yourself like royalty without stealing from your retirement fund. Of course the boys of Brazil are legendary and they did not disappoint. From the beautiful beaches of Ipanema to the laid back relaxation of the little gay town that time forgot – Paraty – the people are hospitable, gracious and beautiful. In addition to being an accomplished actor you are also a producer. How has travel impacted and inspired your art? I believe travel is to life what a good merlot is to a meal. It can only enrich and enhance the experience. I find that with every trip I take I come back rejuvenated, inspired and refilled with awe of the human spirit and experience. As a writer and producer marinating in all the beauty the world has to offer helps me communicate my stories in more articulate and meaningful ways. On what projects are you currently working? I have a three films coming out in the spring including Kiss the Bride, A Four Letter Word and my writing and producer debut – Mulligans. I describe Mulligans as The Graduate for a new generation. A college grad has an affair with his best friend’s father. The film deals with the affair and the repercussions when the family discovers it. I am very proud of the film, we shot it this past summer in Victoria, British Columbia. I am currently seeking final investments to complete the post production on the film. If anyone is interested in owning a piece of a movie – investments start at $1000. I can be contacted through the film’s website – www.mulligansthemovie.com My production company, Border2Border Entertainment Inc. has our second film in development as well as several television series. We sold our first television series this past year and it is currently doing very well in Canada. When can people see your South American Bump episodes with Zoom vacations?
